Major Code: ELEM

The Elementary Education program requires a secondary admission to the process for the final two years. Teacher Education program is accredited by the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Graduates will be recommended for Oklahoma teacher certification in elementary education (grades 1-8).

General Education: 43 Credit Hours

Communications: 9 Credit Hours

Social and Behavioral Sciences: 9 hours

Humanities: 6 Credit Hours

Aesthetics (3 hours)

Global and Civic Studies: 3 Credit Hour

The Civic and Global Studies course, must be a foreign language that includes a speaking component. 

Science and Mathematics: 11 hours

Physical Science: 4 Credit Hours

Biological Science: 4 Credit Hours

Mathematics: 3 Credit Hours

General Education Elective: 3 Hours

Select one of the SOC, HIST, ECON, GEOG or POLS courses above that you have not already taken.  (^^Preferred) 

Pre Education Core: 16 Credit Hours

Additional Math: 6 Credit Hours

Select two additional math courses for a total of 6 addtional hours of math. 

Recommended: MATH 1513  , MATH 2213  , or MATH 3413  

Additional Science Credit: 4-5 hours

Select one additional biological or physical science course that you have not already taken.
